Van’s a local boy from Conway, having grown up a couple of blocks from the Waccamaw River.
The radio bug hit early, and at age 15 he began his career at a 1000W daytimer in Loris, then on to stations in Conway, working after school and on weekends. After finishing at Coastal Carolina he continued his career, working for stations in Myrtle Beach, Youngstown and Dayton, Ohio, Wichita, Kansas, Bloomington/Normal, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan. He was happy when he had the opportunity to come back home and host mornings on EASY Radio. Van says “there’s something pretty special playing your favorite music for your long-time friends and family. And the seafood here’s not too bad either.”
