Life in the Carolinas: A Love Letter to Myrtle Beach
If you're one of the thousands of people who have traded the hustle and bustle of the North for the charm of the Carolinas, you’ve likely noticed how life feels just a little sweeter here. I count myself among the lucky ones who call Myrtle Beach home—a place that holds a special corner of my heart.
For me, the dream of living here began decades ago. My parents and sister made the move back in 1987, and I knew even then that one day, I’d follow suit. The Grand Strand isn’t just a destination; it’s a way of life.
I was fortunate enough to grow up with family vacations here every year, and the memories we created still bring a smile to my face. My uncle Carl, stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, was the first to sing the praises of this coastal gem to my dad. Up until then, our family vacations were spent at Nags Head, North Carolina—a lovely spot in its own right. But when we visited Myrtle Beach for the first time, along with Uncle Carl and Aunt Mabel, our hearts were stolen. We never looked back.
Each year, we packed up and headed south, renting the Hobeika beachfront cottage just steps from Kozy Korner Restaurant, The Gold Nugget Hotel, and the iconic Pavilion. For me, as a kid, the Pavilion was pure magic—the most exciting place in the world. Back then, our world was smaller. Without cell phones or the internet, the experiences we had were even more vivid and precious. If you needed to make a call, you’d search for a pay phone. If you didn’t see something with your own eyes or in a book, it might as well not exist.
Those summers felt endless, and the idea of returning to Northern Virginia always came with a heavy heart.
Today, Myrtle Beach continues to attract people from all walks of life, drawn by its temperate weather, affordable living, and relaxed pace. Whether you’re here to enjoy your golden years or simply for a change of scenery, this coastal paradise welcomes everyone with open arms.
And that’s what we aim to celebrate on Easy Radio. Whether you’re working, running errands, relaxing by the ocean, or savoring a quiet moment at home, we’re here to keep you company. We play continuous light favorites—a soundtrack as warm and inviting as a Myrtle Beach sunrise.
Life here may be slower, but that’s part of the charm. In Myrtle Beach, you don’t just live—you savor every moment.
